    WHO

Young Graham Zempel, Jack Zempel, Joe Zempel

    Not so cute any more.

Smooth Talkin Perverts are 3 brothers from South St. Louis. Raised in a family of small-time, fly-over country, stage and studio musicians, we came together after doing time with different scenes: from hard-core punk to progressive jazz, to writing and producing beats for hip-hop artists in LA. Our sound has evolved into a hard rock “jive-punk” mutation that draws from metal, blues, jazz, funk, roots, and hip-hop.

Our latest CD - SHOW ME

Yeah, we're from the "Show Me" State, but these songs are more about "shut up and do something."

There are new songs and remixed faves from our first demo. Listen for brutal honesty, humor, and irreverent attitude in the lyrics. In the music we play with progressive time signatures, melding of minor and major chords and distinctive, organic rhythms. And then, there's The Dogtown Horns.

    Our Sound

We're a "power trio" with help on some songs from our dad and The Dogtown Horns.  Nobody sounds like us, but our fans are also fans of: Arctic Monkeys, Queens of the Stone Age, Led Zeppelin, Oingo Boingo, The Rolling Stones, Primus; and a recent youtube comment said "The Groovemind" reminded them of Frank Zappa somehow. Cool.
